I recently had the pleasure of touring a journalist from Victoria's Shaw TV to both Big Lonely Doug and the spectacular, yet endangered Eden Grove right next door. Check out the two resulting news pieces below, which also feature some of my drone clips and new video from my trail camera of a black bear climbing a giant cedar tree!
Shaw TV's videographer, Lorraine Scollan explores the back roads of Lake Cowichan with the Ancient Forest Alliance. Big Lonely Doug is Canada's second largest Douglas fir tree but is surrounded by a clear cut. TJ Watt has some amazing drone footage of climbers measuring the tree & Ken Wu explains why old growth tree protection is vital.
Eden Grove is a paradise on Southern Vancouver Island with ancient trees that are in need of protection from logging. The area is also home to black bear, Roosevelt Elk, cougar and some endangered species. The Ancient Forest Alliance has the support to protect these forests from municipal governments.
